Create a rosette like the signature rosettes on all my guitars. The 5-1/2″ square piece of maple burl veneer comes laminated to a hardwood veneer backing. This backing provides stiffness, stability and the proper thickness that will enable you to cut and inlay the burl center ring into your rosette. The total thickness of the piece is approximately .055″.

The depth of the channel must be within .005″ of this thickness to avoid sanding through the top veneer after completion. The installation of this type of rosette center ring is demonstrated in great detail in the classical guitar making 10-DVD box set.
