There are few colors that go with both spruce and cedar tops as far as bindings go. And if you can find something that works it might not bend easily. I have selected jotoba for the bindings and backstrips for all my wood kits because the color goes with either spruce or cedar and it bends well.

There are few colors that go with both spruce and cedar tops as far as bindings go. And if you can find something that works it might not bend easily.
I have found jotoba works very well for the bindings and backstrips because the color goes with either spruce or cedar and it bends well. Jatoba is initially a light brown color but turns a nice warm brown with time and exposure to UV light. I use it for bindings in all my wood kits
The binding blank is enough for a complete set of bindings and a spare or two, depending on how you slice them. There is more than enough of the backstrip for a butt strip as well.
The binding blank measures 32″ x 1-18″ x .200″ Glue the purfling veneers to the bottom surface, slice off the stick and bend before you install. This is the same method as used in the book and dvd. The back strip is 32″ x .100″ x .200″. The .100″ surface is surface used for the center strip.

The wood for Guitar Bindings and Backstrip from JSB Guitars has enough material for at least one guitar and especially when following the instructions in the DVD set.
