This set of plans contains drawings for a classical guitar heel cutting jig. The jig is for cutting the slots in the heel to accept the sides as in the traditional Spanish method of guitar making. The sled is designed to be used on a table saw. Using UHMW plastic runners that will allow the fixture to slide in the table slots of the saw without sticking due to expansion from humidity. The jig can cut slots for any scale length guitar without adjustment to the sled. The sled is easy to make and easy to use. It can also be easily adapted for ukuleles.
Also included are drawings for a sled that will cut the angled cheeks on the inside portion of the heel of a classical guitar. The inside heel sled is used to cut the cheeks to the angle as described in both the book and guitar making 10-DVD box set. Plans can be easily amended to accommodate any heel angle. This sled is used on a band saw (do not use on a table saw) making it unnecessary to tilt the table. Typically the wood at this part of the heel approximately three inches thick, this a difficult cut squarely with a hand saw. The sled is easy to make and easier to use making perfect cuts every time.
These plans were included as PDFs on disc 10 of the DVD series. If you do not have a copy of the DVD but would like to build these time saving and accurate jigs they are available here.
