The classical guitar side mold is made of MDF and has been cut on a CNC machine for ultimate accuracy. The shape is identical to that in the plan and template sets. The mold can be used to both laminate sides and install linings as demonstrated in the book “Classical Guitar Making: A Modern Approach to a Traditional Design” and the 10-DVD box set Classical Guitar Making by John Bogdanovich. The shape and dimensions of the mold are the same as that of a ’37 Hauser classical guitar.
Three pieces of pre-bent masonite thinned to .090″ and 16 pieces of 3 3/4″ x 3/4″ x 3/4″ MDF are included to create glue cauls necessary to distribute clamp pressure. It is recommended that the mold be shellaced before use to reduce moisture exchange with the environment and improve stability.
Now Available in both 650 and 640mm scale lengths
*The weight of the side mold may make it impractical for international shipping
