To create laminated guitar sides as described in the book and the guitar making dvd box set, four pieces of veneer are required per guitar in addition to the outer wood of choice (ie. Indian or Brazilian rosewood). A set of four veneers – enough for one guitar – are available in two types of wood, Alaskan yellow cedar and pear wood for this purpose.
The classical guitar mold set is used to bend and laminate guitar sides, make the linings, and install the linings as demonstrated in the book and DVD by John Bogdanovich. The molds are designed for the guitar in both the book and the DVD. The shape of the plantilla is the same as a ’37 Hauser classical guitar. the molds are made on a CNC machine for ultimate accuracy. The molds and cauls are bundled together for a savings.
In order to create linings as described in the book four mahogany laminations are required. These laminations are approximately .042″ thick. This thickness is not available from wood suppliers therefore these pieces must be milled from larger stock. Now a complete set is available for building your guitar.
This guitar side mold is used to accurately bend guitar sides by laminating the wood as demonstrated in the guitar making book and DVD. CNC for accuracy the pre-assembled the mold will produce consistently shaped sides. The mold can also be used to install linings. Materials to make the glue cauls for the mold are included. The shape of the mold is identical to the guitar plans for both the book, DVD and ’37 Hauser classical guitar.
The classical guitar lining mold kit is a two piece mold used to laminate strips of wood to form guitar linings. Made with CNC accuracy the mold will produce linings that fit the guitar sides perfectly. Material to make the glue cauls necessary to install the linings is included. This mold will work with both the book, DVD and ’37 Hauser classical guitar.
