Hands-on Guitar Making Classes
In the hands-on classes students will participate alongside John in all aspects of the process and get hands on experience. In addition to expert guitar building advise and instruction students will learn how to do things like sharpen tools properly and get lots of tips on materials and tools.
Students with no prior experience using hand tools have left with new skill and confidence to continue what they learned at home in their own shops. Take it from former students – you will get more out of the class than you thought you would.
Benefit from my years of crafting quality instruments and get some real hands-on experience. Classes are offered only twice a year and seating is limited. Check out below for schedules and specifics for each class.
2019 Classes Posted
J.S. Bogdanovich Guitars has been undergoing a restructuring to make improvements for visitors, members, customers, and subscribers. Since we are already more than half way through the year there will be one round of hands-on guitar building classes in 2019. The dates are listed below.
Details & Schedule
Hands-On Class – Construct the Neck, Sides, Top and Back
Students will participate with John and get hands on experience building the components for a concert classical guitar. In this class students will build the sides, neck, top and back, and then assemble the neck and sides, and consequently learn how to use and properly sharpen their tools. The class covers all the techniques demonstrated in the guitar making book and dvd set including laminating the sides and linings.
Students will learn to brace a soundboard, rough carve a heel like a pro and get valuable advise on how to voice the top and back to avoid wolf tones. Learn how to work efficiently and avoid serious mistakes that can take all the pleasure out of guitar making and compromise your results.

Western North Carolina
The mountains of Western North Carolina are known for their beauty, especially in the spring and fall. The Asheville area also has some great restaurants. And there are also plenty of things to do in the area. You may want to consider extending your stay beyond the class time to explore the area.
