Guitar Plans
After the book was released readers expressed frustration at not being able to scale the guitar plans in the book to full size with any degree of accuracy. That prompted me to put together a complete set of guitar plans using a CAD program. The resulting full size plans were made available and in addition to the guitar plans, full size acetates for the soundboard and the back were included for layout of the braces. Below are detailed descriptions of all the guitar plans, as well as plans for guitar making jigs and fixtures available.
Plans Now Available as Digital Download
Download capability has been added to the store for all plans sold by J.S. Bogdanovich Guitars. This will result in a price savings, and a savings in shipping. The plans can be downloaded to your computer in pdf form (zip file). Complete instructions for how to download the products are provided. These plans can then be printed or viewed on a computer screen.

Guitar Plans (Book)
This set of guitar plans and acetates are for building the classical guitar described in the book "Classical Guitar Making". The guitar design is a traditional Spanish guitar design based on the '37 Hauser plantilla. This guitar uses an asymmetrical bracing pattern with 7 fan braces with an additional diagonal fan brace that stops short of the lower transverse brace. This guitar design will yield a very well balanced instrument with a medium level of difficulty in execution. This guitar design was geared toward beginning luthiers or first time guitar builders.
The drawings for the guitar are on two 48" x24" sheets and the acetates are 24" x 18". These guitar blueprints have a level of detail that was not found in the book. Drawings of additional but necessary items not originally included such as full size radius sticks, and the side template were also added. Wood grain fills were added to not only make reading the plans easier but to demonstrate proper grain orientation. Notes are included where additional examination is necessary. Full size acetates for the soundboard and back are used to facilitate layout as demonstrated in the book. These acetates allow you to easily mark the surfaces to accurately position the all the braces. These plans are available in both 650 and 640mm scale lengths. Guitar Plans (DVD)
This set of guitar plans and acetates are for the guitar demonstrated in the 10-DVD box set "Making a Concert Classical Guitar" and are included on disc 10 as PDFs. This guitar design is also based on the '37 Hauser plantilla therefore all the templates will also work for this guitar. This is the current Bogdanovich guitar design. This new design features a bracing pattern with an open lower transverse brace on the soundboard designed to incorporate more of the top directly in sound production. Enhancements have also been made to improve the treble response. For improved playability and ease of set up a more elegant approach is taken with regard to the fingerboard. The edges of the sides are tapered in the upper bout to accept the fingerboard without the need to relieve its underside. In the evolution of this guitar design, small incremental changes were made for better sound and more consistent playability over a number of years. This design is the culmination of those changes. These guitar blueprints will yield a powerful, rich, yet well balanced instrument with a higher level of difficulty in execution.
These guitar plans on the DVD are in color, but may be printed in gray scale to avoid additional costs.
