Making the Guitar Solera Video Excerpt
The guitar design in the guitar making 10-dvd box set calls for a solera or work board that has patches glued to its surface. These patches are then shaped to mimic the contour of the top edge of the guitar's sides - the edge the soundboard will be glued to. These contours have been carefully calculated to produce a classical guitar with an optimal set up. The optimal set up will not only result in a very playable, but an optimally sounding classical guitar. The complete construction of the solera is demonstrated in the dvd box set. Full size plans for this solera on on disc 10 in pdf format.
The video below is a sample from the guitar making 10-dvd box set. This excerpt is taken from the sequence on making the solera and demonstrates how to lay out the patches for the upper and lower bouts of the guitar solera. Making the work board properly will greatly increase the chances of making a quality classical guitar. Without a good stable solera the guitar will be difficult to set up.
