The plane making dvd is now available on this web site. Viewers can expect the same high quality production and professional instruction in this video release as in the award winning guitar making dvd box set. This video demonstrates the construction of a bench plane and a compass plane, The compass plane is a curved bottom plane used in guitar making for the construction of the solera, back workboard, and the radiused sanding discs. This plane can also be used to scoop out a chair seat, a sitting bench, or a large tray or bowl. This plane can be used for any woodworking project that requires a concave surface.
The bench plane is the most commonly used woodworking hand plane. It is considered a general purpose hand plane which is typically used to perform tasks such as joinery, thicknessing and smoothing.
Plans for both planes will be included on the disc. Instructions for accessing the drawings are on the disc.
Making a plane is a fun woodworking project and can be completed in weekend. This video release in on one DVD. Complete plane kits are also be available for both planes and include a high quality blade and breaker assembly, plus all the wood necessary for the plane.

Bench Hook and Shooting Board Plans - Available FREE!
Plans (PDFs) for the bench hook and shooting board are available free from J.S. Bogdanovich Guitars. Click here to download these full color plans. These plans came as a zip file. Unzip the file and the drawings are in a folder called Shop Tools. These plans can be printed on 8 1/2 x 14 piece of paper.
Radius Sticks Now Available
Many customers were having difficulty creating these sticks accurately from the drawings. This prompted us to offer these sticks on the site. The 15' and 25' radius sticks are now available in the store as a set. These sticks are necessary in creating the solera and back workboard as well as the radiused sanding discs. They are used as guides while dishing the surface to check the accuracy of the curvature. The sticks are 15" in length, about 1/4" thick, and are made of high quality hardwood. The appropriate radius is stamped on each stick for easy identification. Also, these sticks are now be included free with all master kits.
Side & Lining Molds Now Available in 640 Scale
The side and lining molds are now available in 640mm scale length. The 640 scale length guitar body is proportionally smaller than the 650 requiring different molds. These molds will work with the 640 scale length plans of the guitar constructed in the book already available on the site. All discounted sets which previously included the mold set have also been updated adding a 640 scale length version. Please be sure to select appropriate scale length when ordering.
Side Molds and Solera Lightened for Shipping
The side molds (both scale lengths) and the solera base have been lightened a bit to save on shipping. The solera base has been reduced by almost 5 lbs, a reduction of %33. Both 650 and 640mm scale length side molds have also had a weight reduction. The weight of these molds has been reduced by about of 3 lbs, a reduction of about %25. This weight reduction has no effect on the durability of the molds but will result in some savings with shipping.
